COLLEGE COACHING

Skills for Thriving Before, During, and After College

Helping College Students and Young Adults Find Their Compass

The transition to college is one of the most significant developmental shifts young adults experience. It brings excitement and opportunity — along with academic pressure, social change, independence, and uncertainty. For many students, this transition can intensify anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, or difficulty managing stress.

My work focuses on supporting students and families before college begins, throughout the college years, and during key transitions after graduation, using evidence-based strategies that promote confidence, independence, and long-term well-being.

BEFORE COLLEGE

Building Skills for Independence

Support before college is not about eliminating stress — it’s about helping students develop the skills they’ll need to manage it. Early work often focuses on strengthening emotional regulation, executive functioning, and decision-making skills so students can approach college with greater confidence and flexibility.

Areas of focus may include:

  • Managing anxiety about academics, social life, or independence

  • Strengthening coping skills and emotional awareness

  • Reducing avoidance and perfectionistic patterns

  • Clarifying personal values and goals before the transition

Early intervention helps students enter college with a stronger internal toolkit, rather than relying solely on external structure or support.

DURING COLLEGE

Navigating Stress, Identity, and Expectations

College is often the first time students must balance academic demands, relationships, self-care, and independence all at once. Therapy during college focuses on helping students manage this complexity while staying connected to what matters most to them.

Common areas of support include:

  • Anxiety, panic, and stress management

  • OCD symptoms and intrusive thoughts

  • Academic pressure and performance anxiety

  • Difficulty with motivation, organization, or follow-through

  • Identity development and changing family dynamics

Sessions are active and skills-based, helping students apply tools directly to real-life situations they are navigating on campus.

AFTER COLLEGE

Supporting the Transition to Adulthood

The transition out of college and into "adulting" comes with it's own set of challenges. Students may experience uncertainty, loss of structure, or pressure to “have it all figured out.”

Post-college support often focuses on:

  • Managing uncertainty and comparison

  • Adjusting to new roles and expectations

  • Building routines and structure outside of school

  • Aligning career and life choices with personal values

This phase of work emphasizes flexibility, self-trust, and values-based decision-making rather than rigid expectations or timelines.
